Mucosite, Laser de baixa intensidade, Radioquimioterapia, Câncer de cabeça e pescoço

Introduction. Oral mucositis is one of the main side effects of antineoplastic therapy. Most patients diagnosed with head and neck cancer, submitted to radiotherapy treatments, manifest this inflammation, of which there is no standard therapy. The interventions are mainly conservative, and the low-power laser has been shown to be effective both in the treatment and in the prevention of oral mucositis. Objective. To evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment of oral mucositis with low-level laser therapy in patients undergoing radiotherapy. Methods. This is a systematic review, where a survey of scientific articles was carried out in the National Library of Medicine / NLM (PubMed) database, from 2010 to 2021. For the formation of the search phrase in PubMed, the strategy of the search was composed of controlled vocabulary, such as Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) from the National Library of Medicine. Results. 105 articles were found, but using inclusion criteria 93 articles were excluded, totaling 12 articles used for the investigation, 10 presented confirmatory results for the prevention and treatment with Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), however 2 studies did not ratify with the analysis. Conclusion. LLLT has been shown to be effective in preventing and treating mucositis and in pain in patients undergoing radiotherapy. Future research should identify the ideal characteristics of LLLT and determine a protocol for use in the clinical environment.

Introdução. A mucosite oral é um dos principais efeitos colaterais da terapia antineoplásica. A maior parte dos pacientes diagnosticados com câncer de cabeça e pescoço, submetidos a tratamentos radioquimioterápicos, manifestam essa inflamação, do qual não existe uma terapia padrão. As intervenções são principalmente conservadoras e o laser de baixa potência, tem se mostrado eficaz tanto no tratamento, quanto na prevenção de mucosite oral. Objetivos. Avaliar a eficácia do tratamento de mucosite oral com laserterapia de baixa intensidade em pacientes em tratamento radioquimioterápico. Métodos. Trata-se de uma revisão Sistemática, onde realizou-se um levantamento de artigos científicos na base de dados National Library of Medicine/NLM (PubMed), no período de 2010 a 2021. Para a formação da frase de pesquisa no PubMed a estratégia de busca foi composta por vocabulário controlado, como Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) da National Library of Medicine. Resultados. Foram encontrados 105 artigos, mas utilizando critérios de inclusão 93 artigos foram excluídos, totalizando 12 artigos utilizados para a investigação, 10 apresentaram resultados confirmatórios para a prevenção e tratamento com a Laserterapia de Baixa Intensidade (LLLT), porém 2 estudos não ratificaram com a análise. Conclusão. A LLLT se mostrou eficaz na prevenção e tratamento da mucosite e na dor em pacientes em tratamento radioquimioterápico. Pesquisas futuras devem identificar as características ideais da LLLT e determinar um protocolo de uso no ambiente clínico.
