Objective. Check the effects of physical therapy in hospitalized individuals who have risk factors for TVP, even under anticoagulant medication. Method. Only were analyzed randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published between June 1976 and September 2007. They were part of this review 7 RCTs involving hospitalized patients, over 21, smokers or nonsmokers. Results. Confirm that early mobilization and the use of anticoagulants significantly reduce the DVT levels and, when associated with the use of elastic compression stockings, these results are most evident. Conclusion. The results of this review suggest that early mobilization has beneficial effects in hospitalized patients and is evident the fundamental importance of physical therapy during the hospital stay. The use of anticoagulant medication and through the compression stockings that also assist in preventing DVT process.
