Abstract
A removable complete denture is an effective treatment for the edentulous patients, and currently is a therapeutic approach not only in the rehabilitation of the stomatognathic system, but also in the psychosocial rehabilitation as these individuals are considered disabled. Restorative procedures that require the assembly of the mandibular and maxillary models on articulators need an accurate interocclusal record. The making of removable complete denture (RCD) involves a series of steps, one of which is the interocclusal record, made to stabilize the intermaxillary relationship obtained, deserves attention because of the importance and complexity in reproducing the patients occlusion. The purpose of this study is to report the technique and the benefits obtained using this method for obtaining interocclusal record in dual conventional complete dentures or over implants. Three grooves are made in the higher guidance plans, and in the anterior portion, toward the median sagittal plane that has a pyramidal shape, it will be the main point of orientation for the wax bases. The other two grooves are made bi-laterally in the region of first molar. After the adjustments, marking the lines, positioning of plans of wax, and obtain the compensation curve anteroposterior and lateral side, the interocclusal record is made in the intermaxillary position in centric relation, so that the models are mounted in an articulator semi- adjustable. This registration is accomplished by filling the grooves with the selected material, the first groove and the most important to be filled is the anterior, soon after it is done the same with the posterior. The observations made after the use of interoclusal record with grooves showed efficiency in relation to stable intermaxillary position and minimizing any distortion, this model has contributed to the improvement of technique, such as easier handling of mandible at time of obtaining the centric relation.
