Abstract
Introduction: The lost of tooth is configured as a recognized problem of public health. Faced with new perspectives of dentistry, the edentulous individuals seeking dental services in search of better oral health, which is reflected in the increase in self-esteem and health conditions. Objective: To assess the epidemiological profile of patients seen in the Implantology specialization course in Pós-Odonto Suprema, assessing its prospects and the reason that led them to opt for this type of treatment. Methods: This was an observational and cross-sectional study. To complet this, 30 patients completed a questionnaire containing data related to socioeconomic status and rehabilitation with dental implant such as: self-knowledge, objectives, expectations and difficulties towards treatment. Results: Among the patients, 24 were female and 6 male sexual gender, with a higher percentage of age 51-60 years. The type of tooth absence was the most frequent partial, with the most likely to cause such tooth decay. Most patients have such expectation towards the rehabilitation treatment the quest for aesthetic and masticatory function. Conclusion: The patients reported knowledge, goals and expectations satisfactory on implantology. The desire to resolve changes in mastication, speech, stability and not to overload the adjacent teeth, plus the need to improve self-image and emotional and psychological component, confirm the expected benefits to implantology.
