Objectives. To verify through a systematic review the activities of the Nurse in the prevention of adverse events in the Intensive Care Units (ICU). Methods. We selected the studies published originally in Portuguese and English, for the last ten years, based on MEDLINE (National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health), SciELO data bases. We selected studies of greater scientific evidence, including clinical trials, transverse studies and original articles. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied based on the types of studies, language, specific patients and date of publication. Results. Initially, 42 studies involving adverse effects in ICU were identified. However, after applying the filter articles, 35 articles were found. After reading the articles found the exclusion was made by abstracts studies, selected articles were selected, selected 18 article, involving the theme for analysis and inclusion in the scope of this review. Conclusion. It was concluded, therefore, in this review that permanent training of the professionals involved, favor a safer practice regarding the prevention of adverse events in patients who are susceptible to incidents and therapeutic interventions in relation to ICU time. The importance of the managers to propose actions that can avoid the occurrence of incidents, thus providing, favorable outcomes to the assistance rendered, with better results in the quality indicators

Objetivo. Verificar por meio de uma revisão sistemática a atuação do enfermeiro na prevenção dos eventos adversos nas Unidades de Terapia Intensiva (UTI). Métodos. Foram selecionados os estudos publicados originalmente em português e inglês, dos últimos dez anos, tendo como referência as bases de dados MEDLINE (National Library of Medicine e National Institutes of Health), SciELO. Foram selecionados estudos de maior evidência científica, contemplamos ensaios clínicos, transversais e artigos originais. Os critérios de inclusão e exclusão foram aplicados com base nos tipos de estudos, idioma, pacientes específicos e data da publicação. Resultados. Inicialmente foram identificados 42 estudos envolvendo efeitos adversos em UTI. Contudo, após aplicação do filtro artigos, foram encontrados 35 artigos. Após leitura dos artigos encontrados a exclusão foi feita por estudos em resumos, foram selecionados artigos originais, selecionados 18 artigos envolvendo a temática para análise e inclusão no escopo desta revisão. Conclusão. Concluiu-se, portanto, nesta revisão que capacitações permanentes dos profissionais envolvidos, favorecem uma prática mais segura frente à prevenção de eventos adversos em pacientes que estão suscetíveis a incidentes e intervenções terapêuticas em relação ao tempo de UTI. Ressalta-se, a importância dos gestores a propor ações que possam evitar a ocorrências de incidentes, proporcionando assim, desfechos favoráveis a assistência prestada, com melhores resultados nos indicadores de qualidade.
